SAINT MARINUS on 3 September, the founding feast and national day, with the Palio delle Contrade and the medieval days; the investiture of the CAPITANI REGGENTI twice a year, on 1 April and 1 October, with its state banquet; Sant’Agata on 5 February, marking the Republic’s recovery of liberty in 1740; the Borgo Maggiore market; the grape harvest and the autumn chestnut and truffle fairs; and Christmas and Easter in a wholly Catholic country.
