The food of the Flemish Region — West and East Flanders, Antwerp, Flemish Brabant and Belgian Limburg: the North Sea coast and its shrimp and flatfish, the polders, beer of extraordinary variety, beef stewed in it, waterzooi, asparagus, chicory, and a strong Burgundian restaurant culture. Dutch is the language, with West Flemish, Brabantian and Limburgish varieties that differ markedly.
