Subregional

โš  BELGIAN LIMBURG IS NOT DUTCH LIMBURG. Two provinces, two countries, one historic name โ€” divided in 1839. The Belgian side: HASPENGOUW, the largest fruit-growing region in Belgium, with apples, pears and cherries; HASSELT and its jenever, with a genever museum and a long distilling history; Tongeren, the oldest town in Belgium; and the coal basin around Genk with its Italian, Turkish and Moroccan mining communities.
