Salted, dried and often smoked lamb or mutton ribs, soaked overnight and then STEAMED OVER BIRCH STICKS โ€” the pinner that give the name โ€” served with mashed swede and potato and with akevitt. The Christmas dish of western and northern Norway, and now the most widely eaten Christmas meat in the country, having overtaken ribbe in several regions.
