Lithuanian Foodways

Lietuvių virtuvė

National

The food of Lithuania: potatoes worked harder than almost anywhere — cepelinai, kugelis, vėdarai, žemaičių blynai — rye bread, cold beetroot soup in summer, mushrooms from the Dzūkija pine forests, curd and sour cream, smoked meat and lagoon fish, šakotis on a spit, and a Christmas Eve of twelve meatless dishes.
