Liechtensteiner Wine

Specialised

Vineyards on the warm Rhine-facing slopes at VADUZ, Schaan, Triesen, Balzers and Eschen — perhaps 100 hectares in total, which is small and is real. PINOT NOIR (Blauburgunder) dominates the red, with Müller-Thurgau, Chardonnay and Zweigelt; the HOFKELLEREI DES FÜRSTEN VON LIECHTENSTEIN, the Prince’s own cellar, is the best-known producer, with the Herawingert below the castle. Viticulture here is documented back to the Roman period and was maintained through the monasteries.
