Festival

The blessed basket taken to church on Holy Saturday or Easter morning and eaten after the liturgy: paska bread, dyed and often wax-decorated eggs, a sweet cheese paska, butter shaped as a lamb, ham and sausage, salt, and horseradish โ€” plain or with beet โ€” which cuts the fat and carries the symbolism of the bitterness of the Passion. The order in which the fast is broken is itself traditional.
