Norwegian Akevitt

Akevitt

Specialised

Potato spirit flavoured with CARAWAY as the required dominant, plus dill, fennel, anise and coriander, and — the Norwegian distinction — AGED IN OAK, usually old sherry casks, which no other Nordic aquavit tradition requires. LINIE akevitt is shipped across the equator and back in cask, a practice that began as an accident of 19th-century trade and is now the label’s defining claim. Drunk with pinnekjøtt, lutefisk, spekemat and the julebord. ⚠ ALCOHOL IN NORWAY IS SOLD THROUGH THE STATE VINMONOPOLET; recorded, not recommended.
