Todos Santos and T’antawawa

Festival

On 1-2 November households build a mesa for the returning dead, with the foods and drink the person liked, and above all T’ANTAWAWAS — bread shaped as swaddled infants with a painted plaster face, and bread ladders, horses and suns. The bread is later shared with those who come to pray. ⚠ AN ANDEAN AND CATHOLIC OBSERVANCE AT ONCE, and this system records the practice as publicly documented without attaching meanings to individual forms that communities have not themselves published.
