Allemansrätten — the right of public access

Comparison

⚠ A LEGAL ROW, NOT A CULINARY ONE. Allemansrätten permits everyone to walk on and camp briefly on most land and to pick wild berries, mushrooms and flowers, including on private property. It does NOT extend to a private plot near a dwelling, to cultivated land, to felling or damaging trees, to protected species, or to hunting and fishing, which are separately regulated. Cloudberry picking is restricted on some state land in the far north. The right exists in Norway and Finland in comparable form. Sámi rights to land use are a separate legal matter again and are not described by allemansrätten.
