Swedish and Sámi Foodways — the relationship

Comparison

⚠ A BOUNDARY ROW. Sámi foodways are an Indigenous system covering Sápmi across Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia, and are a ROOT in this corpus. What is recorded here is CONTACT, not containment: reindeer meat, suovas and dried meat in the Swedish kitchen; the fäbod summer-farm dairying that developed beside Sámi herding; markets at Jokkmokk since 1605; and a legal framework in which reindeer husbandry in Sweden is a right reserved to Sámi. The history also includes forced relocations, nomad schools and land-rights litigation that continues, and those are not omitted to make a food page comfortable.
