The food of the Walloon Region — Hainaut, Liège, Namur, Walloon Brabant and the Province of Luxembourg: the Ardennes with game, ham and forest; the Meuse and Sambre valleys; the industrial Sillon with its mining and steel communities and their Italian and Polish migration; abbey and Trappist brewing; and a strong dairy and charcuterie tradition. French is the language, with WALLOON, PICARD, LORRAIN and CHAMPENOIS as recognised regional languages that are not simply French dialects.
