Christmas Eve as the year’s most structured meal: wafers with honey and garlic, a soup that is sauerkraut in some regions and mushroom in others, carp, potato salad, bobalky, poppy seed and nut pastries, apples and nuts. Regional and household menus differ sharply, and no single version is presented as the Slovak one.
