North Welsh Foodways

Gogledd Cymru

Regional

GWYNEDD, YNYS MÔN (Anglesey), Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham: the mountains of ERYRI, the Llŷn peninsula, and the strongest Welsh-speaking communities in the country. Sheep on the high ground; Anglesey as the historic granary of Wales — Môn mam Cymru, "Anglesey, mother of Wales" — with its sea salt and its shellfish; Conwy and Menai MUSSELS; Bangor and Caernarfon; and the SLATE quarrying communities of Bethesda, Llanberis and Blaenau Ffestiniog, whose packed food and caban meal breaks are a documented working foodway.
