Half-moon boiled dumplings of wheat or wheat-and-rye dough, filled with potato and curd, potato and bryndza, soured cabbage, mushrooms, buckwheat, plums or bilberries, and served with browned onion, butter, cracklings or sour cream. โš  NAMING TRAP: Rusyn pyrohy/pirohy are what Ukrainian calls varenyky and Polish calls pierogi, while Russian pirogi are BAKED PIES, not boiled dumplings at all. The same word does not name the same object across these languages.
