The other Rusyn world entirely: communities settled on the Pannonian plain from the 1740s, whose speech (Pannonian Rusyn) is close to East Slovak and whose kitchen is a plains kitchen โ wheat, maize, paprika, pork, geese and ducks, plum and apricot, wine โ not a mountain one. โ SAME PEOPLE, DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENT: this is the clearest case in the system of foodways following land rather than ancestry.

Pannonian Rusyn speech is close to East Slovak, and Slovak villages were settled on the same plain in the same decades.
