Regional
The districts on the left bank of the Dniester, the industrial and Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking part of the country, with Tiraspol and Bender as its centres. Its kitchen leans Ukrainian and Russian — borsch, salo, pelmeni and vareniki alongside mămăligă and plăcinte — and it holds Moldova’s single largest winery at Tiraspol. ⚠ NEUTRAL GEOGRAPHIC ROW: the canonical unit is the one Moldova itself defines, no statement about political status is made, and food is not used as an argument about it.
