Copán, Ocotepeque, Santa Bárbara and Lempira, against the Guatemalan and Salvadoran borders. ⚠ COPÁN IS A MAYA CITY — the Classic Maya capital whose archaeology records a maize-and-cacao agricultural economy — and its modern people are CH’ORTI’ MAYA and Ladino, not one thing. LENCA territory runs through Lempira and Intibucá. The food: maize and beans; TICUCOS, the bean-filled tamalito; CHILATE; ATOL CHUCO; TAMALITOS DE ELOTE; POZOL; cuajada and quesillo; and the COFFEE of Copán, Ocotepeque and Marcala, the last holding a Honduran denomination of origin. Cacao grows here and in the Sula valley.
