Communities in Stockholm from 1775, Gothenburg and Malmö, enlarged by migration from the Russian Empire around 1900, by refugees in the 1930s and 1940s including the Danish Jews carried across the Øresund in 1943 and the White Buses survivors, and by Polish Jews expelled in 1968. Yiddish is one of Sweden’s recognised minority languages.
