The Nativity Fast ends and the pig, killed at Ignat on 20 December, supplies the table: sausages, jellied brawn, smoked bacon, sarmale, roast; with cozonac, colaci for the carollers, walnuts, dried fruit and wine. Colinde carolling and the goat and bear dances are paid in food. โš  TWO CALENDARS: some communities keep 25 December and some 7 January, and both are ordinary in Moldova.
