Jól

Festival

Hangikjöt, laufabrauð, ptarmigan in the north, smoked or glazed pork, and the thirteen Yule Lads through December. On 23 December, Þorláksmessa, SKATA — fermented skate, pungent in the same chemical way as hákarl — is eaten, above all in the Westfjords tradition. Then leaf bread, small cakes, and laufabrauð cut with the family.
