Two distinct movements: German Silesians expelled to both German states after 1945, and Upper Silesians who emigrated to the Ruhr from the nineteenth century and again in the 1970s and 1980s under German ancestry provisions. Also Texas Silesians — Panna Maria, founded 1854, the oldest Polish settlement in the United States and Silesian-speaking for generations.
