Pannonian Rusyn Foodways

Панонска руска кухня

Regional

The other Rusyn world entirely: communities settled on the Pannonian plain from the 1740s, whose speech (Pannonian Rusyn) is close to East Slovak and whose kitchen is a plains kitchen — wheat, maize, paprika, pork, geese and ducks, plum and apricot, wine — not a mountain one. ⚠ SAME PEOPLE, DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENT: this is the clearest case in the system of foodways following land rather than ancestry.
