Regional
The Frisian-speaking districts of the Schleswig-Holstein west coast: the mainland marsh and geest around Husum and Niebüll, the islands of SYLT, FÖHR and AMRUM, and the HALLIGEN — small unbanked marsh islands that flood over completely in winter storms, where the houses sit on warften and the sheep are taken indoors. Salt-marsh lamb, Wadden shellfish, fish, dairy, and a heavy trilingual overlay of Frisian, Low German and Danish.
Languages: North Frisian, Northern Frisian
