⚠ GREENLAND IS NOT ONE FOOD REGION. Five municipalities and several very different worlds. SERMERSOOQ, with Nuuk in the west and TASIILAQ in the east, where Tunumiisut is spoken and the history is quite separate. QEQQATA, with Sisimiut and Kangerlussuaq, and the only substantial WILD REINDEER and musk ox hunting. QEQERTALIK and AVANNAATA in the north-west, with Ilulissat and the Disko Bay halibut fishery, Uummannaq, Upernavik and QAANAAQ — the Inughuit far north, with the longest sea-ice season and the most intact hunting economy. KUJALLEQ in the south, with Qaqortoq, Narsaq and Nanortalik, the only part of the country with FARMING. And Ittoqqortoormiit on the remote east coast.
