Bolivia’s Ecological Bands — a note

Comparison

⚠ A WARNING ROW, AND THE MOST NECESSARY ONE HERE. Bolivia is not an Altiplano country with some other bits attached: roughly two thirds of its territory is LOWLAND. ALTIPLANO — high plain above 3,600 m, La Paz, Oruro, Potosí, Lake Titicaca, Aymara and Quechua. VALLES — the temperate inter-Andean valleys of Cochabamba, Chuquisaca and Tarija. YUNGAS — steep humid slopes between them. LLANOS and AMAZONÍA — Santa Cruz, Beni, Pando, tropical lowland with cassava, rice, cattle and dozens of peoples. CHACO — dry thorn forest in the south-east, Guaraní. ⚠ AND BOLIVIA HAS 36 RECOGNISED INDIGENOUS NATIONS in its constitution, not two.
