Port Hercule and Monegasque Fishing

Coastal

PORT HERCULE, a natural harbour used since antiquity โ€” the Greeks and Phocaeans knew it โ€” and the reason there is a settlement here at all. The Mediterranean off Monaco: anchovy and sardine, sea bream and bass, red mullet, octopus, cuttlefish and squid, poutine and nonnat fry in season, and rockfish for soup. โš  A SMALL FISHERY AND A DECLINING ONE: most seafood served in Monaco today is landed elsewhere, and the historical foodway and the modern supply are recorded separately.
