GHENT above all, with waterzooi, the Ghent mustard house, cuberdons — the cone-shaped "noses" with a liquid centre — and one of the earliest and strongest vegetarian city movements in Europe; then the Scheldt, Aalst with its carnival, Dendermonde, Oudenaarde with its brown ale, and the Meetjesland market gardens.
