Indigenous
The Venezuelan side of one Wayuu nation โ the largest Indigenous people in both Venezuela and Colombia, living across the Guajira peninsula and around Lake Maracaibo, and never fully subdued by Spain. GOATS and sheep on land too dry for cattle; FRICHE, goat fried in its own fat and offal; maize and beans; cactus fruit; fish and shellfish on the coast; and the CHICHA of maize. โ RECORDED AS THE SAME PEOPLE AS THE COLOMBIAN ENTRY, with distinct geography and a shared culture. Their cross-border trade and movement is a documented part of how both sides eat.
