The populated east: Concepción, San Pedro, Cordillera, Guairá, Caaguazú, Caazapá, Itapúa, Misiones, Paraguarí, Alto Paraná, Central, Ñeembucú, Amambay and Canindeyú. MANDIOCA at every meal — boiled, as starch, as flour; maize in locro, mazamorra and chipa guasu; the chipa and mbejú; cattle and the asadito; river fish; citrus and tropical fruit; YERBA MATE grown in Itapúa, Alto Paraná and Canindeyú; and the soy frontier that has reshaped land use since the 1970s.
