The northern third, part of the ARDENNES: high, wooded, thin slate soil, cold, and historically the poor part of the country. Cattle and dairy, potatoes, rye and oats on ground that would not grow wheat, game, forest mushrooms, trout in the Sûre and Our, and Ardennes ham and smoked pork. Clervaux, Wiltz, Vianden and the Upper Sûre lake.
