A community in Copenhagen since 1684, with the Great Synagogue of 1833 and a food life of Ashkenazi forms adapted to Danish ingredients. In October 1943 the great majority โ over 7,000 people โ were carried to Sweden by Danish fishing boats and civilians and survived; most returned.
