Norwegian-Canadian communities in the prairies and British Columbia; the Norwegian settlements in Argentina and southern Brazil; Norwegian communities in Australia and New Zealand; and the maritime diaspora of the merchant fleet, which put Norwegian sailors and their food in ports worldwide. The Sjømannskirken, the seamen’s church, with its waffles, is the institution that carried it.
