Nearly sixty per cent of the land area and under a tenth of the people: boreal forest, great rivers running south-east to the Gulf of Bothnia, the fjäll along the Norwegian border, and a growing season too short for wheat over much of it. Barley, potatoes, dairy from mountain summer farms, reindeer, moose, freshwater fish, cloudberries, and the fermented Baltic herring of the coast. ⚠ SÁPMI OVERLAPS NORRLAND AND IS NOT THE SAME THING.
