Migration and Luxembourgish Food

Modern

Roughly half of Luxembourg’s residents are foreign nationals and a very large daily workforce crosses in from France, Belgium and Germany — which makes this one of the most internationally constituted food cultures in Europe. PORTUGUESE is the largest single community, with its own bakeries, grocers, cafés and festivals, and pastéis de nata and bacalhau are ordinary Luxembourgish shopping; then Italian, French, Belgian, German, Balkan, Cape Verdean and a large international-institution population. ⚠ RECORDED AS LUXEMBOURGISH FOOD CULTURE, with each tradition’s origin named rather than absorbed.
