Barley, buckwheat, millet and oat groats cooked thick and eaten with milk, cracklings, mushrooms or honey; cornmeal porridge on the Transcarpathian lowland, where it meets the Romanian and Hutsul mămăligă/banosh tradition. Ritual wheat-berry dishes belong to the Christmas Eve table.
